Walk The Walk

More than 450,000 people have 'Walked the Walk' to support research into breast cancer, but until now they had to use different sites and systems to participate, to register, to raise money or just to donate. With the growth of Walk the Walk – now the largest grant-making breast cancer charity in the country – a single 360 degree site was needed.

what we did

WPN Chameleon work with half of the top 20 UK charities designing and building performance websites, and so Walk to Walk appointed the agency in 2015 to develop the new site. Walk the Walk Commercial Director Guy Aubertin said: "The time was right to put in placed a single view of how people engage with us to allow supporter communications to be more relevant and targeted."

Stewart Sear, WPN Chameleon Digital Creative Director, said: "From the early stage designs at pitch, right through to the final look, we worked closely with the Walk the Walk team to produce stand-out creative that is modern, fun and approachable."

The agency took a 'hub and spoke' approach as the technical model for the design, allowing it to integrate with existing 3rd party services such as email and event registration, but also to give flexibility to change services in the future – future proofing the site so Walk the Walk will realise greater return on their investment over time.

The site was built on open source CMS Umbraco and is hosted in WPN Chameleon's load balanced and secure datacentre.

The site www.walkthewalk.org was launched in April 2016 and has been very well received. More results to follow.
